This chart takes the opposite approach: it maps the fuel families that power hand-held gas tools, what their flames are used for, and the exact questions an importer should ask before trusting any single number. The only flame temperature printed here as a fact is the one behind our own products: ZHENTANZHE butane torches are rated up to approximately 1300°C. Everything else in the table is a verification task, not a claim. Flame temperature is the most quoted - and least qualified - figure in the gas tool category. Used correctly, it helps you match a tool to a task and compare suppliers on equal footing. How to use this chart

Each row is a fuel family, not a product. The temperature column answers a different question per row: for our own products it carries a factory rating; for every other family it tells you what to demand from the supplier before you rely on any number. That asymmetry is deliberate. Measured flame temperature depends on burner design, air mixing, gas pressure and the way the measurement was taken - the same fuel can produce very different readings on different hardware. International standards reflect this: ISO 22702 for utility lighters treats premixing and postmixing flames as separate cases when setting flame-height requirements, precisely because construction changes flame behavior.

Work the chart in three passes. First, shortlist the fuel family your market already buys - changing fuel ecosystems mid-range frustrates users. Second, check that the hardware and canister interface match that family. Third, put the questions in the last column to each supplier in writing. Suppliers who answer with a test report are worth shortlisting; suppliers who answer with another infographic are not.

Temperature figures for fuels other than ZHENTANZHE butane torches are intentionally left as verification tasks: no single published number survives contact with a different burner, pressure or measurement setup. Confirm every figure against a named test report before it enters a purchase decision.

Why we only print our own number

Our rating is deliberately scoped: an up to approximately 1300°C flame temperature under factory test conditions, with an up to ~50 cm flame that varies ±10 cm with altitude, pressure and temperature. The variability is part of the specification, not a footnote we hope you skip. Any competitor figure that arrives without conditions attached deserves the same scrutiny you would apply to a runtime claim without a flame setting.

When you compare quotes across suppliers, put all numbers on the same footing: ask each for the rated value, the test standard or in-house method, the instrument used and the report reference. Comparable paperwork beats a bigger claim every time, because it survives your own customers' questions.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 1300°C flame always 1300°C?

No. The figure is a rating taken under defined test conditions. In the field, delivered heat at the workpiece depends on distance, dwell time, wind and gas pressure - which is why our flame length is specified with a ±10 cm variability band. Judge tools by the rating plus its conditions, not by the number alone.

Why are other fuels' temperatures left as placeholders?

Because they are not our products and not our claims. A temperature figure without a named test method is marketing. For any non-ZHENTANZHE appliance, ask the seller for the instrument and the report behind the number, and compare suppliers on paperwork rather than on claims.

Does a longer flame burn hotter?

Not necessarily. Flame length and flame temperature are separate ratings - ours are up to ~50 cm (±10 cm) and up to ~1300°C, specified independently. Reach buys distance and coverage; temperature is about what the burner does to the gas before it exits the nozzle.

What temperature do I need for weed treatment?

We do not publish field temperatures for weed work. What we specify is the tool: the GF-8016 Long-Reach Torch delivers an up to ~50 cm flame for standing treatment at a distance. Technique - young weeds, short passes, suitable weather - decides outcomes more than another degree at the nozzle.

Do you sell the gas?
