OEM manufacturing means the factory builds an established product to carry your brand - and for gas torches the process runs through seven fixed stages: inquiry and specification, drawings, sample, deposit, production, testing and delivery. Each stage exists to close one gap between what you pictured and what leaves the line. This guide walks all seven as they run on a real torch order, with what you supply, what the factory returns and what you should have in hand before moving on.

The short answer: OEM is not one black box called "production" - it is a relay of approvals. You approve a specification, the factory converts it to drawings, you approve a sample, the deposit releases the schedule, and testing and inspection close the loop before shipment. A buyer who understands where each approval sits can see exactly why a torch order takes the time it takes.
You state the model platform (compact kitchen torch, long-reach utility lighter, outdoor burner), quantities and the customization set: logo, color, packaging, manual language and canister-interface adaptation for your region. The factory replies with feasibility, a quotation and the commercial frame - at ZHENTANZHE, OEM/ODM orders run from 500 pcs. Reference performance points worth fixing in writing: flame temperature up to about 1,300°C, flame length up to about 50 cm, electronic ignition rated 5,000+ ignitions, operating range -30°C to 30°C.
Your logo files and packaging concepts become production drawings: logo placement and application method on the body, carton and box layouts, manual layout in your target languages. This is the cheapest place in the whole process to change your mind, so review the drawings against your brand rules line by line - every correction here is minutes; the same correction after printing is cartons.
The factory produces samples to the confirmed drawings. You test them against written criteria - ignition reliability, flame stability, shut-off behavior, finish, print quality - and either approve, comment or revise. The sample fee is credited against the bulk order, so this stage costs you diligence, not premium. Durations vary with how deep the customization goes; the schedule is confirmed when you request the sample.
Approved sample plus signed proforma plus deposit releases the production slot. Under current terms the production window is 15-20 days from deposit receipt, and payment is by T/T, L/C negotiable. The clock starts on money and documents being in place - which is why the cleanest orders are the ones where drawings were already final in Stage 2.
On the line, the order runs under ERP-controlled workflow with automated inspection supporting the process, and every unit passes the factory's test battery - 20+ checks covering air-tightness, ignition, pressure and backfire behavior before packing. This is also where your customization physically happens: shells in your color, your logo applied, your cartons and manuals married to the batch.
Finished, packed goods are checked against the approved sample - quantities, configuration, marking, carton condition - and export packing is prepared for the dangerous-goods requirements your freight forwarder specifies for the route. Buyers are welcome to book a third-party pre-shipment inspection at this point; the factory page shows the line those inspectors will walk.
Documents issue, the consignment moves, and customs clearance runs on the destination side. From deposit to delivery the factory controls Stages 4 through 6; transit and clearance belong to your forwarder and broker - plan the calendar with both windows in view.

FAQ
Production runs 15-20 days after the deposit is received, under current terms. Sampling before production and shipping after it add their own time, and both vary with customization depth and destination - the schedule for your exact configuration is confirmed at the RFQ stage.
OEM carries setup the stock line does not - logo application, color, packaging and manual language each add preparation - so its unit price is quoted per specification rather than taken from a stock list. Send the configuration through the RFQ form and the quote reflects exactly what you asked for.
Yes, and that is the usual route. Existing platforms - a compact kitchen torch, a long-reach utility lighter, an outdoor burner - accept logo, color, packaging, manual language and canister-interface adaptation without new tooling. A fully new product is a development project with its own drawing and sample stages.
The sealed reference unit both parties keep after sample approval. It is the physical agreement on what the order looks like - flame behavior, finish, logo placement, packaging - and it is the baseline the pre-shipment inspection is measured against.
Buyers normally supply and own their brand assets; the factory applies them under the scope of the order. State the usage scope in the order documents, and keep the artwork versions agreed at the drawing stage - that is what production will follow.
