The ignition sequence, step by step

  1. Fill or seat the canister. Connect a butane or high-altitude canister with a European valve interface; other canister types need an adapter. Fuel canisters are not included with any model — purchase them locally according to your local regulations.
  2. Check the seal. A quick leak check with soapy water at the joint confirms air-tightness before the first ignition.
  3. Open the valve with the control knob to release a measured flow of gas at the nozzle.
  4. Press the igniter. The spark lights the mix; the flame stabilizes into a blue-tipped cone.
  5. Adjust the flame for the task — a low, tight flame for kitchen finishing, a full flame for charcoal or outdoor work.
  6. Shut down. Close the valve fully; the flame dies and the valve-linked auto shut-off ensures no gas continues to flow once the flame is out.
